PALLET ISLAND

This is Reclaimed Rustics solution for walk-in closet center island (and pallet shoe rack). This Pallet Island is a wonderful example of reclaiming, re-purposing and reusing while making my Queen very happy! Although this Pallet Island has brought new life to our walk-in closet with its added storage, it would make an awesome kitchen island. We added vintage baskets and crates that slide in and out storing sandals, hats, sweatshirts and other clothing, blankets and is a great place to hide the dirty laundry. The top is the perfect folding table and also holds a vintage cauldron to collect spare change. Also on top is a woven basket for the anti-static can, lint removal rollers, buttons and sewing kit. The slatted sides can be used to hang just about anything for easy accessibility. We added an old door knob (that was reclaimed from the house I grew up in) to hold scarfs and across from that hangs an antique shoe horn. We had one pallet left over which we stained dark walnut and mounted in the wall cubby to hold the heels. The possibilities of this pallet island in the kitchen would be limitless - pots and pans, utensils, knife slots, pot holders, serving table, etc - especially with a butcher block topper! would This piece is rustic, attractive, useful and spared the life of one more tree!
